Direct Mail Marketing Sales Manager

MCH is seeking a unique marketing-minded individual to sell mailing lists, databases, and marketing strategies to other marketers across all industries. MCH is America's leading compiler of business-to-institution (B2i) databases and mailing lists. The ideal candidate will constantly analyze the territory and actively solicit sales; be accountable for achieving established sales goals; and maintain effective sales relationship-building skills to grow sales with existing customers and capture new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directly interface with current or prospective customers by way of travel throughout assigned territory, product presentations, correspondence, and other means of communication.
  • Persistently and confidently sell, with minimal supervision, the MCH products into vertical and across markets; develop a network of contacts to actively solicit sales through cold calls, outside events, trade shows, via current contacts, and outbound marketing efforts; sell, renew and expand service agreements; understand and leverage sales process checkpoints, as well as demonstrate evidence of gaining small trial closes and commitments; qualify and assess potential of customers.
  • Recommend solutions that match the customer's business and financial challenges; differentiate MCH services and products from competitors, based on business benefits and knowledge of competitor's business strategies.
  • Manage ongoing sales process, develop long-term customer relationships, respond to and anticipate customer needs; actively listen, probe and identify customers' concerns; understand the customers' business and speak customer language to develop credibility, loyalty, trust and commitment. 
  • Effectively write, present, and communicate proposals; secure major opportunities through the use of written agreements.
  • Develop innovative sales strategies to address customer needs and grow the business, including added value opportunities in order to reach MCH annual revenue goals.
  • Analyze assigned territory on an on-going basis for market potential in order to exceed established territory sales goals and objectives. 
  • Using account management principles throughout the assigned territory, conduct quarterly strategic account review sessions with the Director of Sales and National Accounts Manager. 
  • Build and foster team relationships and work with National Accounts Manager, Territory Sales Coordinator(s), and other MCH departments to cultivate growth opportunities and ensure customer satisfaction; solicit support from and communicate effectively with internal staff. 
  • Plan and execute presentations for sales meetings, sales presentations to customers, and trade shows. 
  • Assist in the preparation of weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual plans and forecasts of sales for volume expectations, timing, etc., and maintain sufficient pipeline to support financial plan commitments. 
  • Submit formal reports to Director of Sales concerning daily activities, business development and projects.

Qualifications: 

  • Must have the drive, initiative, and passion to find ways to outperform the competition. 
  • Demonstrate a passion to succeed and reach goals.
  • Strong presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills. 
  • Ability to negotiate contract terms and influence decision makers at key levels. 
  • Ability to travel 40% in assigned territory.
  • Experience working in fast-paced environments, juggling multiple projects and managing a large client base. 
  • Requires a bachelors degree with at least three to five years of sales experience. 
  • Proven track record of working with new business sales, growth in territories, and expanding business within current accounts. 
  • Experience in developing high activity sales and surpassing sales goals. 
  • "21st Century Communication Skills" including email, MS Office proficiency, and use of sales and marketing software, such as CRM.
